If you are travelling to London for Christmas and New Year events plan ahead to get around the city as transportation during the Christmas and New Year time is reduced. During 24th Dec 2015– 3rd Jan 2016 planned work will takes place on some parts of London’s rail and road networks. Train:
If you are planning to travel by train then it will be challenging task for you to get around , Holiday makers be aware that there will be no Gatwick Express Services from 24th Dec 2015 to 3rd Jan 2016 as they are planning for major rail improvement works. Reduced train services to and from Heathrow on 24th December 2015 to 2nd Jan 2016.

Coaches:
Christmas and New year Events makes the road network busier than usual and involves many road closers and bus diversions. Some Coaches operators will run limited services from Gatwick, Stansted and Luton.

New Year Eve (31st December):
Tubes/ Underground/ National Rail: London underground and tube will run Saturday services and National rail will provide very limited services.
Taxis/ Private hire: Taxi services are available 24×7 with extra charge. Private hire car companies will run as usual during the festive season with extra seasonal charge. Pre booking of their services are preferable.
New Year Day (1st January):
Tubes/ Underground/National Rail: Tube and underground will run Saturday services. Some trains will change the times during these days. National rail will provide limited services effected by engineering works.
Taxis/Private Hire: Taxi services are available 24×7 with extra charge. Private hire car companies will run as usual during the festive season with seasonal surcharge of 50% of their prices. Pre booking of their services are preferable.
